html code to add link in Description

I've just added a Business version 6 snapshot to a downloaded copy of Business version 7. My customer has bought the cd and therefore has the key which I have put into version 7 to allow me to use it. I've not actually had hold of the cd so haven't upgraded as suggested by Chris Dicken so this might be the cause of my problem but can I get round it.

The problem is: within the description field I have code (example: !!<b><Font color="ff3300">Click here to see full series of 6 posters.</b>!! ) to make a link on the screen. Now I've added the snap shot, the preview shows the code without the !! but the code isn't in the Description box - if it was I would have just added the !! to the beginning and end to correct the error. If I type the code in again then in the preview I see what I want to see with the code translated into the link but the old code without the !! still shows.

What can I do? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I could have got the wrong idea with your query, but if your links are hardcoded into the description box shouldn't they read something like:

!!<<a href="yourlink"><b><Font color="ff3300">Click here to see full series of 6 posters.</b></a>>!!

Notice the double exclamation and chevron at the start !!< and end with >!!

Sorry, yes they are coded as you say in the Description box and in v6 it works fine. It's just now as I've imported the snapshot into version 7 the code doesn't show in the Description box but the code without the !!< >!! shows in the preview. I just don't know where to go to delete it.

If I re-type the code in the description box it appears correctly in the preview but I'm also left with the original code less the !!< >!! showing in the preview too!

I could go into v6 of the catalog and delete all the code in the Description box then cut and paste it back in once I've imported into v7, it just seems a long way round.

Now I understand. Have you checked the template that you're using to generate the description?

When you select the product in the v7 catalog tree, can you check all the additional tabs to see if the code is in one of those?

From your description of how the code is showing on screen, it does sound as though you have !!<b instead of !!<<b and /b>!! instead of /b>>!!.

If you find nothing on the other product tabs, then you could open the ActinicCatalog.mdb file in Access and search the table.

Bill, Thank you for your suggestions. I have found that the code is actually on the Extended Information tab and is in the Display By section in the Link box. For some reason I don't seem to be able to make html code work here although it will work in the Description box so it doesn't matter, I can do what I want to do within the Description box.

Some areas either cannot take HTML at all or do not need the !!< >!! markup - may be worth trying the code without those just in case ....
