Multiple pages, Prev (1), (2), (3), Next etc

In order not too make my sections too large, is there a way of selecting a maximum subsections per page and Actinic automatically creating pages 1,2 and 3 etc and applying corresponding navigation, like, First, Last, Prev Next?

You can read about Prev Next links in the Advanced User Guide, but you will have to set up the section/subsection/sub-subsection/product pages yourself - there is no way for actinic to generate any quantity of un-named pages, and when it comes to getting the most from your pages on the search engines, you want to control the names, descriptions and keywords.

I had this problem today.

I had over 60 diamond pendants on one page which took over a minute to load on a 56k modem.

I set up a few more subsections and named and sorted them as follows.

Diamond pendants up to £30
Diamond pendants £30 to £45
Diamond pendants £45 to £60

And so on.

It now allows my customer to just look at pages within their price range and has a faster loading time. It also allows me to have more landing pages from search engines as well.

You may be able to do something similar

I will split my 'large volume' sections into several sections manually, as it were, splitting the number of products across several pages.

Should we still use the 56k modem as a benchmark ?
What size should a 'good' page realistically be ?

I still use the 56K modem as a benchmark for my sites (45% of people in uk still use one) and keep my pages to about 85K. This means that they will load in 9 secs on a 56K and of course much faster on broadband.

However if you know your target market all have broadband the you can afford to have a much larger page size.
