This is my first attempt at creating an online shop using Actinic, very much a trial version, could you please take a look and make any recommondations you think I could benefit from. In particular the look/layout of the site.

    Thanks in advance

    Andy,

Obviously still under construction, but coming along.

You know you need something to fill the top left corner - If you don't have a company logo yet, then perhaps the name in LARGE letters.

The chainsaws page could do with a different layout as all the text is being squeezed into a narrow cell on the right. Perhaps a centered layout with the picture above full width description.

Not sure I like the price stuffed into the dropdown on the multichoice power mowers, and I would definitely want to see what I was getting for 20 large on the calton wagon page. Overall, pricing info seemed less than obvious - don't know why, but even when it was in the standard Actinic location, I felt it was missing and had to look twice.

I would also look at adding some prominent info about the Company profile and physical location/contact information.

      Andy,

You need to add a logo and improve the front page!

Try to alternate the layout of the images to give a more balanced view when viewing sections.

Try to create some buttons, and experiment with the section listing row count etc.

In some sections you have quite a bit of text, before you click thro to the next sub section, try to avoid this.

Also, you have some sub sections with one option, you may as well take people directly to the products in these instances.

At checkout, your site looks very blank, plus you have every country as a shipping address, this will invite fraud.

Keep plugging away, Actinic is great fun, and don't be afraid to try different things!

      Cheers,

      Paul

How do I put the image above the description for example on the chainsaw pages?

Quote 'The chainsaws page could do with a different layout as all the text is being squeezed into a narrow cell on the right. Perhaps a centered layout with the picture above full width description'

cant seem to find any option in the section/product layouts.

I have an Act_CentreProductLine.html template. If you choose the select button against Overall Layout in the product Layout tab, and browse - you should find it.

If not, post again, and I will send you a copy.

              Thanks

Have tried that and works a treat, can this be done globally or in a section or does it have to be done against each individual product?

                Site is coming along.

Just one, which I think has already been mentioned, your shopping cart could do with improving.

Also on the home page, I find it better if you show what you are selling (In a list on the side of the page) instead of letting the customer look for the items.

Also do you really need a quanity for such items, how many people would buy two sit on tractors, it might be different if you were say selling ink cartridges where the customer would buy 2, (one to keep in stock) -----Just a thought.

                Keep it going.

                  Re: #7

If you have subsections from the page where you apply the centered layout, and they are set to 'Use Parent' in the overall layout tab, then they should also appear centered.

If you decide to split some of your sections down to one item per page to speed up load times and make it easier to find the one item you want to buy, then this could prove useful.

Re: #8 - I would keep the quantity. I would imagine several golf clubs and other professional users might be interested in purchasing multiple ride-ons and other industrial strength equipment.

                        Yes - much better.

Now - how about making the images on the front page into shortcuts to the sections?
