Hi - I had the same problem!

Try changing the smtp address you have put in the field to 'localhost' , without the speech marks of course.

Hmmm, yes just localhost, nowt else.
        worked for me?!

Don't know what to suggest next - except does your host require authentication on the mail? If so, search the forums for Norman Rouxel (there are loads from Norman!!!) as he has gone into this in detail and has a workaround.

        Sorry

Norman wakes up and looks around groggily as he hears his name mentioned in the background.

My patches are for servers that don't have SMTP at all or only support Authenticated SMTP. It looks like you have plain SMTP (the error 550 is from your SMTP server).

Make sure that your From and Reply to address is from the same domain as your site as this may be confusing the SMTP server if it thinks that you're a foreigner.

I'd suggest talking to your service provider and tell them that you have a Perl script that has to send SMTP e-mail.

Also check that they don't require Authenticated SMTP as that's not supported by Actinic (beats me why not as the standard has been in place for 4 years now!).

You can also try the Advanced / Network and report what the Test says.

This sounds like the same problem I had.

I never did find a fix but used Normans mail::mailer patch that gets the email out, albeit with a slightly strange formatting.

                  You'll find the thread Here.
