Is there a way that I can edit/insert Meta tags for my sitemap?

If you were going to add something else to it (images or whatever), then you could add tags to them, but i'm not sure how you could add tags to anything actinic generated.

Not sure that you can change the tags for the site template. Meta tags in the site map are somewhat redundant and you are better making use of the site map itself (links from your homepage etc) or even using it as your 404 File Not Found page.

Whilst useful as an escape route and for SEO I don't imagine you particularly want users landing on it through choice.

in your .htaccess file put the following line:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.site.co.uk/acatalog/sitemap.html
