Cart/Preview Mode-CGI

Hi All
I tried to set up the cart and test adding to the cart, but I was getting the message you cant do that in preview mode and you need to run CGI on the server. Is there anyway I can test the cart option, adding products etc on my pc without having to upload...I am in test mode right now
