    Hosting : Linux or Windows?

    Hi everybody,

I'm wondering : what's the best hosting for Actinic based website? Windows or Linux?

Isn't Windows better for CGI scripts?

Any advice would be very welcome...

I would go linux every time.

Technically, I don't know enough to say one is better than the other. But in terms of stability, ease of use and ease of integration with actinic everything I've seen says linux is a better choice.

Linux for Actinic all the time.. you can host on Windows but it can throw up more issues

        From windows to Linux...

and if I transfer my catalog from windows to linux hosting, will it work the same (links, cgi scripts, etc.), or will I have to make changes?

If so, what might differ from actinic catalog on windows and on linux?

        many thanks...

I'd be interested to know the same..I've picked up a client who is running actnic on windows and its stopping me from doing a few important SEO things that I want to do...

Any experience with this matter would be greatly appreciated!

The links should stay the same as long as they are managed by Actinic and not hard coded. The network settings however will be different.

So would moving to linux literally be a case of waiting for the downtime to pass and then 'refreshing/re-publishing' the site? Only thing I'm really worried about is the payment side of things as all the pages are .html so see no reason why changing the server would have an effect.

The next few weeks are a good time to do this for my client as its very quiet around Christmas time.

              Thanks again
