    Zonealarm erasing basket

When accessing the site from a client with zonealarm the following symptoms occur -

adding any item overwrites the basket contents
viewing the basket erases all contents

This only happens when "block 3rd party cookies" is selected.

I have 6.1.5 installed which fixes zonealarm redirect issues but this seems to be a different probkem.

Not sure why it thinks the cookies are 3rd party rather than session cookies...?

(I found some similar threads in the v7 forum, but there were no answers...)

I'm also using zonealarm but don't see the problems you're experiencing. I can add to cart, view cart, add more top cart, go to checkout etc without a problem.

The only 3rd party cookie that gets blocked is from websitestats.com and that is blocked by IE.

Your Cookie on my PC looks like the right owner, so something strange must be going on. Try deleting your actinic cookie and see if that makes any difference.

        Nice idea.

I've taken a look and it all seems to be OK to me. I can add to the cart, view cart, add something else to the cart, go to checkout, etc. No problems anywhere and no sign of any third party cookies.

Your cookie also looks OK and has the right owner, so no problem there.

You might be suffering from a corrupt cookie. Maybe deleting the cookie, (in IE go Tools> Internet options >general> settings (temporary internet files)>view files and then sort by 'last modified' and find the cookie with your website as the owner and delete it).

I'm using the free version of ZA so won'tt have all the bells and whistles features of the paid for version.

But it didn't work, just to be sure I deleted all cookies but I still get the same problem...

Are you using ZA free or one of the paid for versions? Is it version 6.0.667?

When you say 'block 3rd party cookies' is selected, is that in IE or ZA?

Sorry for the questions. Just trying to see why it might work for me and not for you.

              ZoneAlarm Pro version:5.5.062.011
              TrueVector version:5.5.062.011
              Driver version:5.5.062.011

              It's in zonealarm - Privacy|Main|cookie control|custom - "Block 3rd party Cookies"

Switching that one single setting on or off turns the problem on and off...

It's definately that causing the problem - but why???

Thanks for your help - I'm just finalising everything else in the hope this will fix itself in the mean time...

John, it looks like you had similar problems with discount aromatherapy when you upgraded to V7. Was this ever fixed and was it due to your actinic privacy policy settings?

No, I gave up on that. All my sites are still on v6. And this site has a 'basic' privacy policy.

                      Hi John,

Zone Alarm at times treats Actinic as an intruder, can you ensure that you have allowed Actinic in Zone Alarm? Let me know if that sort it for you.

                      Kind regards,

not sure what youmean by 'allow actinic'...?

but from the same pc I can access my discount-aromatherapy site with no problems. both sites are configured the same in zone alarm...

Looking through previous cases of this kind of thing there were a couple of things that looked odd:

                          1. was a corrput session file causing the problem, not the cookie. Try deleting all the session files (as long as you don't mind emptying any customer carts) and make sure you have the session file patch applied from here:

                          http://community.actinic.com/showthr...7&page=3&pp=15

                          2. Was something to do with framing / redirects from another (similar) domain and/or a strange basehref statement in the cart. Sadly this looks like it was fixed but they never came back with what the solution was.

                          See this thread: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=12112

If I find some time later I'll take another look at your site and the cart.

John, Did you ever get this sorted out and narrowed down to what was causing it?

I've discovered I have the same problem with a v7 site - seems exactly as you described it... and switching the 3rd Party cookie setting in Zone Alarm clears the problem.

                            Cheers

                            Graham

no, none of the solutions seemed to work, and other things became a higher priority, I then forgot about it. I assume it's still broken, but I don't have time to look at it. I'm probably losing customers but hopefull only a small %...
