    Netquotevar: Headerguide

    Hi

Wonder if anybody can give me a few clues on the following please:-

Where HEADERGUIDE is used by my Act_Primary template, it produces my main navigation icons on those pages where Actinic thinks they are needed (e.g. on product/section pages, but not on Checkout pages).

What I would like to be able to do is to be able to add some HTML at the end of HEADERGUIDE, so that whenever the navigation icons are created and displayed by Catalog, this extra piece of HTML kicks in and tacks an extra element onto the end of the navigation icons display.

I don't think this can be done on the Act_Primary template itself, because if I put the extra HTML there, it comes out on every page, even pages where HEADERGUIDE does not produce the navigation icons (for example, on the Checkout pages).

I think what I have to do is to locate the Actinic script that generates the HTML for HEADERGUIDE, and see if I can add my extra HTML there. Then I will only get my extra element displaying when the navigation icons display, which is what I want.

Anybody have any idea what script this is and whereabouts in it I need to add my extra HTML?

    Many thanks in advance.

Hmm - the structuring of the HEADERGUIDE icon group happens as the pages are generated, so I don't know how to change this.

One suggestion, however, is to use a different Primary template for your Checkout pages then for the rest of your store. These are selected and edited via 'Design Options | Sections'. That way, you can just put your extra code in the store pages and nowhere else.

Thanks Chris - I hadn't considered this possibility at all!

I will go away and investigate if I can achieve what I want this way.

It would be better if I don't have to tamper with the actual scripts in any way.

Thanks again - I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks Chris - that suggestion worked a treat for me!

I now have site looking exactly the way I want it. In about 2 minutes!!
