How to create an alternative packing list??

We have a 'drop/ship' operation so all our packing lists are emailed as pdf's to our supplier. However, we want to sell a range of new products that our usual supplier does not have. This means that we need to send this new supplier a packing list for ONLY the products applicable to them. Can anyone think of a cute way to do this?

IF you export to RTF rather than PDF you can edit the details of the report before sending it on to the supplier. Not cute but it would work.

we do multi supplier drop/shipping we have prefixed every product reference number with a supplier code so we can identify suppliers.

Thanks for that tip - however I assume that there is no way then that you can automate the process of sending/printing Packing Lists?

You could automate the generation of the RFT file and have it sent to 1 third party using that but if you only want to show orders that are appropriate to each supplier you would need to manually edit the files before sending them on to the suppliers - so maybe you could sent it to yourself and then edit it and forward it on to the appropriate suppliers.

If you don't mind including items that suppliers do not have on the list then you could use One Stop Order Processing to select orders for each supplier (you would have to add a supplier code into the product reference to do this) and then send an email with the full order details to them, not automated but fairly quick.

We have had a drop shipping module in development for what seems like years now but it is still not ready for release, we are hoping to have this out in the next 3 to 6 months, but it is a bit of a red herring of a product that never seems to make it past the door.

The other thing that you could do would be to change the packing list report to print a packing list for each supplier that you could then fax over to them - this would not be too hard to do but would be fairly manual - again you would need to code the supplier id into the product reference to do this.
