postage insurance on price above £??

    Hi,
Looking on the community looks like this is impossible at the moment despite being on the wish list for over 3 years.

I have a shop who's shipping and packing prices are normally calculated using weight.

However on overseas orders over £30.00 postal insurance is always required.

Doesn't appear I can set this up automatically unless I have normal P&P calculated by price which is a non-starter.

A load of other users would appear to need this. Is it possible?

    Regards

I had much the same problem until I just went with the DHL rates. But before I did that I thought of adding the additional cost for insurance as part of the incremental cost in the weight table.
So by making the 1st value at 100 gms £10 then just add the incremantal weight up with the additional insuarnce cost.
It's a workaround not an answer.
    Hope it's of some use.

      Hi Duncan Allan,
      Thanks for the reply.
Unfortuneately I am already using this method for another problem so doing this would also effect prices in the u.k which I don't want to happen.

I must say though that I am still suprised that there isn't the facility to allow to do this in a simple way, but there we go.

        Hello Lee,

It wouldn't affect the UK if you set up zones for others countries and classes within those.

I need two classes within the UK to accomodate the Highlands and Islands being charged at twice the contract rate.

yes I agree shame it isn't simpler but then there are so many other things that could be simpler!

        Regards Duncan

Duncan I'm afraid it would affect different zones.

I already have different zones classes etc setup but it is the fact that I am already using this type of weight tweaking that will cause the problem.

What I actually need is something to override the method you mention as I'm already using it,
          regards

            Hi there

As you said im afraid this cant be done at the moment, I will add your request to the wishlist and hopefully we should see it as a feature in the future.

One thing I was thinking was that you could keep your shipping by weight as it is, but add a surcharge in View | Discounts and surcharges settings, so that orders over ?30 would get charged the insurance aswell - this would work fine, but you cant limit this option by location, so its not ideally what you are after.

How to put special single products in the shop

              Problem

we get asked to make up special items of clothing for customers

The items normally overalls are not shown on the web sites and ordered with various prices depending on size etc

we can put these in as a special product and charge that way and then add the description and price to sage line 50, which is a bit draew out, but would prefer to have a product names "special Overalls" with a varable price input for each order

We have used the add adjustment but looking for a better answer if possible

Did you mean to comment to this thread or start a new one?

Anyway, cant you just have a visable product on the website, with a set of components/attributes/choices offering the different available options for the clothing?

These choices can each be set up with different prices to reflect what sizes etc they are ordering?
