Custom Template pages

I've been searching the forum today, but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, so here goes...

I want to create a new template for each section on our website. Now I know how to do this, however, I would like the product display pages to show the original Act_Primary template as normal.

I'm probably missing something very simple here, but my eyes are hurting from a full day's Actinicing...

Any pointers would be great.

On the product page, layout tab, select Act_Primary as the overall layout template.
