    Big problems!!

Hi, where do I start? First of all I am no genius, thats why I bought Actinic in the first place! Any way here goes!!
My boy knocked a glass of wine into my laptop, which was a write off. I retained the hard drive and put it in a pod. I have a new (better) laptop thanks to Norwich Union, some good news there. If I plug my old hard drive in I can locate the Actinic files but I can't get my site back into action. I have tried installing Actinic onto the new laptop, but still no joy.

I do have a snapshot of the site but can't find it, I have everything on my old PC which is not quite the up to date version of the existing website but would be near enough to get me going again. I've used the old PC to download orders for the last month or so with no problem, however just the other day my PC froze during the process and now when I open Actinic I get the following message "The specified site name conflicts with an existing site name or reserved name. Please specify a new site name". I click on okay and I'm back out of it again!

If anyone can help me to do either of the following I would be MOST GRATEFUL : -
Retrieve everything that was lost before the glass of Rose was lost!
    or
Help me get the old PC version back in action so I can take a snapshot and start again

    Many Thanks

Copy the old laptop hard drive Site 1 folder into your new laptop Actinic installation, overwriting any existing Site 1 folder. BUT you must have the security information from the original installation (hopefully you have made a hard copy).

    OR

Open the PC actiniccatalog.mdb file (in the site 1 folder) with Access and compact database, then retry that - if no success, copy the site 1 folder somewhere safe then uninstall/re-install Actinic on the PC (don't forget to download and reapply any verison upgrades/patches you had installed) then copy the saved site 1 folder back.

One of those should get you working.

Thanks Bill, got the laptop back in action, still a bit of work to do pointing each product back to its picture location on the old hard drive, will keep you posted.
      Thanks again for your time!!!

This sounds troublesome. If your site relies on 2 drives in order to operate then it's at double risk of hardware failure.

It might be better to copy these images to your new system. It should be possible to put them in an identical location to the one Actinic is already expecting.

Thanks Norman, that saved me a stack of work.

Anyone any idea why the green arrow is not lit up to allow me to download orders?

          Cheers Bruce

Yes, all 3 options are selected. Do I need to upload again?
              Thanks Bruce

I'll have to let someone more familiar with v5 take over here, but can you confirm you got the security details over OK, and that you are not in test mode? If those don't help, then someone else may have other more helpful suggestions.

Hi Bill, I have not had any requests for security info so not sure about that, everything on the laptop has been suprisingly easy. Thanks very much for your help.
I'm busy on the PC at present, just uninstalled and reinstalling. Going well so far.
If anyone can advice on the missing green download arrow (edit- on the lap top!), please help.

                  Regards Bruce
