    permutations menu

    hello..
    newbie here..

Would someone be able to tell me the implications of selecting the product in the permutations menu..
    example:

is it purely for stock control? ie.. what happen if you leave the product as [none]

    Cheers

    Skipper.

That's for associating a product with an option. If there's no associated product then you simply get a line of text for the selected option against the main product (on invoices, packing lists etc).

You can use associated products for stock control and/or having the same product appearing in many places.

I take it this is classed as an product option..

a component with an attribute, example...

      a bottle of paint available in 100ml, 250ml , 1 litre..

you would associate with the product model, (ie) am1 black

I have great difficulty thinking in terms of actinic 'speak'. i.e. attributes, permutations etc so excuse me if I confuse the issue slightly.

If you have a product that comes in three optional sizes, in your example a bottle of paint in three sizes 250ml, 500ml, 1l , then you can associate an underlying product with each of the options. By doing this you can control stock levels for each of those different stock items.

        Hopefully that's clear.
