    Brochure Navigation

    Hi,

Having recently purchased Actinic for our website along with a hosting package I am impressed with how user friendly the software is, not requring too much intervention getting it up and running. However, I am having difficulty with the Brochure navigation. I am using a smart template as the base for the site, this gives a text navigation bar near the top of the page. I need to add quite a few brochure pages, for each new page I make a link is automatically generated within the navigation bar. Consequently I am going to end up with a very confusing looking system, I need to remove these new pages from the navigation bar and link to them from one page. I cannot see how this is done, is there an easy way or do you have to remove the links and code them in manually ? If this is the case which templates need to be modified ?

    many thanks
    Alistair

The secret here would be to create depth in your structure

    Code:
    Brochure home page
    |-------- Product info
    | |------Prod 1 info
    | |------Prod 2 info
    | |------Prod 3 info
    |--------- Company Info
    | |---- About Us
    | |---- How to find us
    | |---- Other services
so that there is only one or two page links to show up at the top brochure level. i.e. create brochure sections and subsections.

Many thanks for your response, that sounds like an ideal solution. I have looked through the settings and cannot see how to create sections and sub sections within the brochure - just the products section. Am I missing something ?

      thanks, Alistair

I stopped using Brochure pages some time ago and now just simulate a Brochure in Catalog sections.

Try a right click on a brochure page and, if available, select the option create a sub section. If not, try dragging a completed page and dropping it onto another.

Thanks for your ideas, you cannot seem to create sections within the brochure itself. My solution has been to edit the Act_BrochurePrimary file from within the site directory and edit out the NETQUOTEVAR:HEADERGUIDE entry, and code the menu at that point manually. I am surprised that there is not an option to individually exclude brochure pages from the brochure navigation menu - but if there is I can't find it.

          Thanks again - Alistair

I've just cottoned on to this aswell. I use a customvar to create the link to the "brochure page to allow the client the option of changing the link.

This is a useful addidion if you want to have brochure pages whilst also opening the site at acatalog/index.html
