Yet another stock problem

Hi there, I need help please. I have gone through many of the threads regarding stock and have tried it all but somewhere I am going wrong as just cannot seem to do what I want. I have an item that is available in 5 colours, I have tried the hide on web site, association with the hidden item and more besides. What I would love to do is have the colour available to order by choice and for it to also have its own stock level. Is it possible and more important, how do I do it?. Please any pointers would help.

Hi Steve,

What is the setup for the main product like? The best way would be to have the product with a component, attribute and the 5 choices setup beneath it. Now on the Permutations tab of the component you can associate each choice to hidden product on the store to be able to maintain stock.

As suggested is the simplest way.

I have 12 cushions with 12 motto's in 4 colourways,

Each item is hidden and that has the stock control only the genric main image is shown as the product. The component has two attributes one for the 4 colour s as choices and the 2nd has the motto's as choices.

Pain to set up but works well when done.

Many thanks for replies. Stuck with it and glad to say that I got it working to a fashion. This being that if you choose an item, on the invoice it lists the main code and also the hidden item. Maybe easier to see,

That looks a bit odd because it looks as if you are getting 2 light ropes.

You can set it to leave out the main product and just use the component, just set the flag for 'no orderline for main product' and set the component flag for 'component as separate orderline'

The other thing to do would be to change the text for the component titles to create a less confusing string.

I think that there is a way to remove the 1 from the quantity on the component, a search on this forum should find that for you.
