    Invoice Address: County/State/Province:

    Phase:0 ID:7

Via Design Text>Invoice Address, I have altered the above to just County: and have ticked required box.

Can any one explain why when you enter the actual county in the website form it is not remembered like all the other invoice information, and has to be re-entered every time you re-visit the page (which is most annoying as you get message up saying you need to enter it).

Is there a simple solution to this.

    Datarax,

*County/State/Province* is validated when you progress to next page. If the page contains any error then this field is filled with a *default value*, this will also happen if you navigate back to the site and then return to the invoice page.

For example If you select "United States" or "Canada" then you are prompted to select state. You can select a state in first checkout page ( Act_Order00). This *state* value is displayed in invoice/delivery details page as default value

For the countries that don't have states defined for example "United Kingdom" the default value is *empty*unless a county is defined in Advanced | Locations. If you use the United States as a country and select a state, then even on navigating away from the page or having an error on the page it still retains the information.

    Kind regards

      Bruce - I think you may have misread this one. I see the question as;

Other personal data is retained in a cookie and return visitors do not have to re-enter the data, however the contents of the County box are not being retained in the cookie. Is this WAD?

        Hi Bruce,

Does that mean that the input county is never automatically stored, unless I enter all my counties in >advanced>locations>state.

Also, I posted a thread called receipt page, would you be able to answer my question as nobody has been able to.

I have just read your response Bill and it is exactly what I mean. Unfortunately, your response was not on my screen when I responded to Bruce.

            Bill & Datarax,

This is WAD, unless a county is defined in Advanced | Locations | States. Try it using the US and any state/county and you will see that the information is then retained in the cookie because the information is validated. This validation occurs on progressing to the next phase of checkout and not before. The default value for a county is set to 'empty' on the verification if there is no specified value in Locations | States.

I only supply the UK so there are no choices for shipping.
I have entered Norfolk and Suffolk as counties in advanced>location>state, but when you enter them on to the web form, press next and leave the page and then return the county is not there again (which also happens if I leave the site all together and then return). Is there another way for me to capture the county so that it remains there once entered, like all the other information does. Counties are quite important things and should not keep disappearing.

Strangely enough it was not happening yesterday but today the values in County/districts/states are disappearing. Will check on this for you.

Well found it. You will need to go into Business Settings | Shipping & Handling .. under 'Shipping bands', right click on 'UK' and select 'Properties'. In the Members area highlight the UK and move it back to the list and reselect and move over to the members area so that the additions in Advanced | Locations reflects on the shipping too. Now you will have to go into Tax and highlight the 'UK tax zone', click on edit zone and repeat the move over so that it now shows you, UK and the counties below it. Update the site and retry, teh cookie now does not loose the information.

Thought I had lost it for a bit !!!!

                    County

                    Hi Bruce,

I only supply to the UK mainland.

If I set up counties in advanced>locations and do what you suggest I end up with drop down boxes for invoice and delivery destinations and the county is automatically entered as a result of my selection into the invoice details form, but with a change button next to it.

I don't want this, as I want what I now have, which is there are no drop down boxes for invoice and delivery destinations and I enter the county in the box and the details are then remembered.

I have attached the a copy of the invoice details form showing the box that needs remembering.

                    cheers

In Business Settings | Tax, choose Tax by delivery Address. Looks like you have it se to Invoice address. Then against Tax zones, make sure you have done as suggested in the earlier thread for the UK Tax zone, you will have to click on the Uk move it back to the 'Available Regions' and then select it again and move it into the Zone members area, now highlight the 'No Tax Levied zone an check the box against 'Do not allow 'none of the above' as a zone member'.

Now in Design | Text, Phase 0 ID 16 uncheck the 'Show' option. Apply and then check the site.

                        Hi Bruce,

                        Is it Me!!.

Did all the above and before and end up with exactly what I have said I dont want, but slightly different. Is there any way to remember the county without doing all this.

As I am sellng business to business I want to tax by invoice location.

I have left changes on site http://www.datarax.co.uk if you would like to view.

Since you are shipping only to the UK what difference will it make if you are shipping by delivery address or by invoice address? I have had a look on teh site and went right through to the page after the invoice address, closed the page down and then returned to the site, and the site correctly remembered the county I had entered. Works perfectly. If you select tax by delivery address then it will make that small bit a lot neater.

                            Hi Bruce,
I had already changed to tax by delivery address.
I am likely to supply businesses with more than one site who want an invoice to only one location and deliveries elsewhere.

I now have two drop down boxes that need to be selected and I only supply to mainland uk and it is not normal to select a county.

I really cant be the first person in the uk to highlight this issue. There must be a simple solution like...a County text box with manual input that is remembered.. and doesnt link to anything else except as part of the address.

                            Help Me!!!!

In Business Settings | Tax, have you clicked on 'No Tax Levied Zone' and then ticked the box against 'Do not allow 'none of the above' as a zone member'? This is what is causing you to have to select a country from a drop down.

                              Kind regards,
