Using SSL and Actinic java encryption

I've recently got a 128 bit ssl certificate, got that working ok now, but am wondering whether there is any mileage to be had from also using the Actinic java applet for credit cards as well?

I don't want to confuse customers, but I would like to assure them of their security because I know (in a past life with a different site) the lack of security does put some people off.

Is belt and braces too much, or is there any real benefit?

Would suggest doing away with the applet if you have SSL on your domain now, as although very remote, some users do not have java vm installed, so those customers can not order from you, whereas the SSL on its own is more than enough security in an outward noticable fashion to reassure most buyers out there...
