    ""Unable to checkout""

We have developed the site for our client, TSA Martial Arts UK, and its uploaded for testing purpose. Here is the problem that when ever any product selected for purchased and upon clicking the CHECKOUT very next page displays the message""" Your shopping cart is empty. Return to the catalog and add an item to your shopping cart before continuing. """ .......where as selected products are already being added and shown in the shopping cart status with its respective value. Kindly visit the site at following link http://www.tsamartialarts.com/acatal...red_Belts.html

Server's Tech Info is as according to the requirements of Actinic:
    Operating system: Linux
    Apache version: 1.3.33 (Unix)
    PERL version: 5.8.6
    PHP version: 4.4.0
    MySQL version: 4.0.25-standard
    CGI: Available

Tell me whats & where is the problem?

The checkout is looking for https://www.tsamartialarts.com/cgi/os000001.pl
The secure checkout pages do not work. Checking your ssl network settings might help.

    Duncan

PS I also noticed that your 'home' link on your catalog pages is pointing to:

      cannot add to shopping cart

I can add stuff to the shopping cart on my computer.

      My husband cannot.

This shop has been working, and a purchase was made on Friday, but we actually don't have SSL settings at this time. Since both Paypal and Protx have secure payments.

I could add to cart no problem. I would suggest that your husband the browser internet cache and cookies on his computer and then retries.

          Thanks - conversion rates anyone

Thanks for looking at this. I'll switch on my husband'scomputer and give it a go.

I have to say looking at the web stats we had 180 people this weekend get to the last page of checkout and none made a purchase.

What sort of conversion rates do other people have?

We had a special promotion this weekend which meant:

          http://www.fairlyoddparentsshop.com/acatalog/index.html (cgi bin 170)

          enter e-shop: about 4000
looked at computer games: about 960
          add to cart (ca000170.pl): 231
          gave address (os000170.pl)): 180

          but only one actual sale...

That's what made me think the shopping cart wasn't working...

Please please do try the site and see if it works for you...

Any one going to 'fess up to their conversion rates?

I put through a test order and it all looked OK to me.

In terms of conversion rate. I get about a 2% conversion rate overall and the last time I checked more than 80% who start the checkout process complete the transaction.

180 out of 4000 is a little bit less than 5% which is a little high even for a highly targeted website like mine.

Ok I'll go onto support and see if we can streamline the checkout.

Mine seems to take four pages or four times 'next', i noticed on the Actinic SSL demo site there was only 2 pages, 2 'next's!

              Keep those conversion rates coming...

Conversion rates vs unique visitors varies considerably depending on time of day, week, month and year etc. It would be of little use to compare other sites to yours with completely different products.

A big factor is how they found your site - where did they come from - were they intending to buy or just surfing and so on. Your site logs should hopefully allow you to check the referring pages etc.

That said, I find that at least more than 90% of people starting checkout on my site actually complete the sale.

You might want to change the order of your payment providers and put Protx at the top above Paypal. Another thing you might consider is to join a safe shopping group such as Safebuy or similar and display their logo prominently on your checkout pages.
