Coupon Problem

I have got a problem (or bug) with coupons. The coupon code is not remembered when adding additional products and is not always carried over to the checkout. If I do this for example:

1. Add item to cart & confirm - wait for bounce
2. View Basket & type coupon code and click update. The discount shows OK.
3. Click continue shopping
4. View basket - item looks ok with discount shown.
5. Add another item to cart & confirm - wait for bounce
6. View basket - now the discount is no longer shown and I have to re-enter the coupon code again and press update to see the discounts. If I went straight to checkout now then I wouldn't get the discount I expected on the purchases unless I re-entered the coupon code during checkout.
This is fully repeatable.

Actinic is setup to allow coupon codes in basket and checkout.

Everything works ok if I just leave entering the coupon till the checkout, but I would like the customer to be able to see the discount each time an item is added to the basket.

Is this a bug or what?

As a temporary workaround I've configured the coupon entry only to show in checkout which seems to work ok. But has anyone else seen this when coupon entry is configured for basket as well, or is it my setup for some reason?

Duncan,

Nothing wrong with your setup, that is the way the discounting works at the moment, it needs to go to the checkout to calculate the discount and does not automatically show you the discount on adding additional products to the cart. This does not mean that the discount will not come into effect, it just is a present catch on the system. As you have noticed, it all works perfectly fine in the checkout.

Thanks for clarifying that Bruce.
It's very confusing for the customers when they may have to enter the coupon code twice. I'm going to stick with coupon code at checkout only but it's pity because it would have been nice for them to see the actual discount value automatically when adding additional products to the cart.
