checking server gets - wizard hangs...

I've got a strange problem - a client's site won't upload - this site WAS working, now it won't - I've checked EVERY setting myself personally - and it simply doesn't upload - you don't even see the upload window appear if you hit update or refresh website.

The "test" button in the network setup reports ZERO errors - if you run the network setup wizard, it hangs at the point of "Checking server GETs" - but the script ActincGets.pl (and I tried it in .cgi mode) - is there, and you can call it from the browser, passing variables changes the value in the response etc... this site has now been down for 4 days because of this - and of course, it's the start of the thanksgiving holiday, alhtough I do have a ticket open with Sure Solutions, I'm probably NOT going to get a response because of the holiday...

any ideas anyone?

ps - there are LOADS of actinic sites on this same server... no-one has any problems REMOTELY like this...

Hanging problems

I have a similar problem, it hangs and eventually times out, The only way I clear it is to disconnect my adsl modem and network hub, then reinitialise. Then it seem to work.

Don;t know if thios helps??

not really - we're on an ethernet connection to the ISP in the same building who has OC12 fiber running in here - there is no modem in our connection...

anyone from Actinic got anything for me?

Can you try going into Help | Troubleshooting | Purge and Refresh Web Site.. select both options and continue.. Check if the refresh happens. If you come across errors, please do pass those on too.

Also could you get your client to check if they are behind a firewall of any sorts, try disabling it and doing an upload / refresh and see if it works.

I'll try the purge/upload/refresh in a couple of hours...

This also happens when I have the snapshot here - I have LOTS of actinic sites on my machine, and I get the same error with this site, and not with the others - both on the same and different servers - the only thing that appears to be different is THIS SITE...

I've tried the purge/refresh and nothing happens... I've submitted a helpdesk ticket - although I would suggest that resellers have some other way of submitting tickets other than the REGULAR means of submitting helpdesk tickets... after all, by the time we get to submitting a ticket, the problem generally has been knocked around a LOT - and it's probably getting a little annoying or the client has been down (as in this case) for quite some time.

Sorry for all the trouble, try changin the script ID in Adavnced | Network settings .. from 1 to 2 and then try a refresh.

well.. the upload STARTED - which is more than I've seen before... that could be it... it might have fixed it... I'll let you know..

it choked on ftp and continued using http - which is MOST odd - because none of our other sites on this server have ftp issues - but... it continued, then at the end, it complained of a missing image (no problem) and it then said TWICE:

Parameter Incorrect

It was MOST odd... I've not seen those boxes before - but I think it's going to be ok... however, there is something wrong still, as FTP was not allowed...

In Advanced | Network Setup | FTP Options, enable Silent Running, set Maximun retries to 3 or more, retry delay to 3000 and then try an update.

max retries is 3, timeout is already 3000, use enhanced FTP is checked - I've just run into it again on another test site I'm loading... it managed to run FTP for all the perl mods, and cgi-scripts, and then at the HTML and images, it went and decided that http is the way to go...

One of my server companies recently moved their hosting services, and all hell broke loose on my sites.
