Smart Theme left & right columns for each Section

Hi all,

Here we go...!

We'd like to be able to edit each individual Section so that we can have different offers displayed in the right bar.
At present if we edit the ACT_Primary file, we can change the OVERALL look for the WHOLE of the website (Excluding the pages managed by ACT_BrochurePrimary)

For example feel free to look at http://www.homestyleshop.co.uk/acata...midifiers.html and http://www.homestyleshop.co.uk/acata...nd_planes.html you'll see that the right pane is the same in each section/product.

So, can we edit each section?! I bet the answer has something to do with Custom VARs or something equally horrible!!!!!

Customvars are the easiest solution - another option is to create a new Act_Primary and specify that against each section accordingly for the layout - the issue there is if you want to change the main design you then have a load of other Primary templates to change.

Adding in a CMV means one change to the Act_Primary and you can then specify a global value under Business settings or change accordingly at the section level.

Create multiple versions of Act_Primary renamed as Act_Primary_[your section name] and select the appropriate version for the section on the layout page (overall layout).

Thinking further you could also use Normans upsell add on www.drillpine.biz or the Cross Sell Pro plugin http://www.ecommerce.uk.com/actinic_...ross_sell.html which may do the same thing only slightly differently for you
