Problem with Java applet using built in encryption

I am using the inbuilt encryption on howorthsonline.co.uk but some users cannot checkout they get the message java not enabled but it is enabled! i got this on a brand new machine with a basic install of winxp home sp2.
Im not using ssl just the actinic inbuilt... help! please?

Pcs are no longer shipped with the java applet , thus if youare going to use inbuilt encryption you will have to install java on your PC and your customers will have to have it on their PC also.

the only alternative to this is to use actinic shared SSL (£100 pa) or buy your own SSL cert.
