After adding to cart, user is not returned to catalog index page

I attempted to upgrade last night to 6.1.2.1 (US Version), but ran into several errors. So I imported my backup so I could be back up and running by start of business this morning. (Shame on me, but I didn't take enough notes to get help with the problems.)

Even though I imported the backup, my version says 6.1.2.1.0.0.DDVA -- which is good, I guess. (But this may prevent me from trying the upgrade again?)

Anyhow, and the problem for which I need help -- now after you add an item to the cart, the customer is returned to the home page, rather than the catalog index. How can I change this to return either to where the customer was, or to the catalog index?

    Thanks!

    Hmm...

I would suggest copying all *.pm and *.pl files from the 'Actinic Ecommerce v6\Original' folder and copying them into the 'Site1' (or equivalent) folder and then uploading. Actinic v6 should always take you back to the product page rather than the site root, so hopefully copying the Perl in will restore the default behaviour.

This should fix you up. If it doesn't, perhaps you could post up your URL so we can see what's happening for ourselves.

Do I need to do a refresh rather than an update? I did an update, but that didn't help. A refresh takes at least a couple of hours, so it would probably be best to do that tonight.

      The url is http://apeekintoyesterday.com

      Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately copying the files did not fix the problem. I've done a complete refresh, and I'm still having the same problem -- the user is returned to the home page after adding an item to the basket. Any other suggestions?

          Hi Pat,

I have just tried your site out and added some Heirloom Rose Quote 3D Stickers (Dena Designs, Inc.) to the basket and I was bounced back to the 'Heirloom' product page, so it seems to be working as it should. It is possible that you are having a caching problem so try deleting your cookies and temporary internet files.

Chris...I'm having the same problem since upgrading to 6.1.2. Customer always gets returned to the index page instead of the store (see my post from this morning). If I can fix it on the Login page, that'll work for me. Any suggestions? Why is this happening anyhow?

I'm having the same problem. Although it originally appeared as a sporadic problem before I upgraded. However, now that I have upgraded the client is permanently redirected to the home page instead of the product page.

I have compared all perl scripts with the originals. I have refreshed the site. I was assuming that I may have done something to the product templates that was stopping the redirect. But I still can't find out what the problem is.

This would be a serious annoyance to my client's customers - any suggestions?

There are two issues here which are getting confused.

                1) Where you get taken to after logging in

                2) Where you get taken to after adding to cart

I'll take them one at a time.

First - where you get taken to after logging in.

When you log in, you are always returned to the page you were on when you clicked the login button. That is the standard behaviour.

If you want to change this then a workaround can be found here which talks about creating a standard link to a page in Actinic, and Actinic will prompt you to log in before going to that page.

Next - Where you get taken to after adding to cart

The standard behaviour of Actinic is to take you back to the page you were last viewing before adding to cart. I.e. the section page where you clicked the 'Add to Cart' button. If it does not do this then something has gone wrong and needs to be fixed.

Hope that is clear. If anyone feels they definitely have a problem then please post a new thread.

                  Chris,

Thanks for the clarification but in my case there is definitely an error occuring. After adding a product to the shopping cart you are then redirected to the home page instead of the product page.

I have compared the perl scripts and have had a look at the templates and cannot find what may be going wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I have no suggestions.

I went to http://www.nailarmour.com/acatalog/Disco_Glow.html and ordered a 'Teal to Gold Tinted Glitter polish' and clicked 'confirm' and I was returned to the Disco_Glow.html page.

I think what it is is that you have a malformed session file that thinks the base url of the store is http://www.nailarmour.com/. You can remove these by going to 'Help | Troubleshooting' and clicking 'Purge Session Files'.

                      Hi Chris

We're experiencing this on one of our customer sites at www.anglopackaging.com

                      The site uses Business 6.1.3

I've had the customer try purging the session files and copying the original version of all the perl scripts into the Site1 folder.

Alas, the shopper is still returned to the 'acatalog' home page after clicking 'continue shopping' instead of the last product page.

Is there a fix for this?

                      Regards

                      Nick

I just tried www.anglopackaging.com and it took me back to the page I came from properly (I did it twice).

Could this be the referer problem again, where if the customer has some security software to hide the refering page, Actinic goes to the home page?

I had the problem with Norton and other had this with Zonealarm.

                          Bob - you're terrific!

I'm the one who initially reported this problem, and I continue to get it. However, since I'm the only one who seems to have this problem, and it is my site, I had given up on figuring out why. I just shut down Zone Alarm, tried again, and I didn't have the problem! Thanks so much for passing the information on. Like I said, I'm not aware of anyone else with this problem (on my site), but at least now I know the answer if someone does complain.

                          Thanks!

                            Aww schucks, I'm blushing

The problem has been mentioned occasionally here. It drove jxm28788 and I nuts one night. I had the problem too until I changed Norton's settings.

I remember reading that this is fixed in 6.1.4. Any date for that?

                              Thanks Bob

Just tried it for myself and you're right. I'd seen this problem elsewhere before but had forgotten about it.

So is there a 6.1.4 due out???? Actinic, can you let us have some details on it yet?

                              Cheers
