    extra variable features

    Hi,

I have a client who would like to add some extra variable features to his products which im not sure how to go about doing it, below is his requirements.

    1. We would like to offer morning delivery at £10 extra. We also offer a pre-10am delivery at £20. This is indicated by each product but I think it should be added in at the shopping basket stage at the end. It is a one off charge per delivery not per item. Is this possible?

    2. Some hire kits include carriage in the price so can you set it so it is not added at the shopping basket stage?

    3. Some products will be offered as extras to a kit eg. Lit dispenser so will not incur a delivery charge as it is will be sent with the kit. The same product can theoretically be hired on its own so will incur carriage of £25 min. charge. It may be better to create 2 products with different codes, one with no carriage charge and one with a carriage charge. One links to the kit, the other stands alone?

Please if someone could read them and give me some advice on how to do it I would really appreaciate it.

    Many thanks

Add shipping classes so the customer at checkout stage can select one of the various options. If you clearly state the details in your "postage terms" also on the checkout page, im sure it will be clear. I have 4 different postage options on my site, i have set it to automatically select the cheapest, however the customer can upgrade if they want, via a dropdown with the postage options in it.

Can you not run carriage via weight on all of your products and just assign a weight which will incur no charge? Ive found Actinic calculates the postage costs fine on my 4 options by using the weights in a way that suits.

If postage is a one off charge of £25, can you not have the weight do this also? If minimum postage charge is £25 and maximum is £25, whatever the customer adds, it will not affect the postage actinic calculates. If the additional item is ordered on its own, then it would fall into the standard minimum £25 charge.

    Hope this helps
