It appears the the contact us email form is not sending email to use, though the confirmation is being sent to the customer. Why might this be. All other emails from Actinic are being sent correctly.

Our website is www.priceisking.co.uk
I can't remember it ever working. I should have tested it, I know.

Do you recall receiving an error message re the SMTP server when you test your networks settings? Also, have you checked this with the hosting company as well for any possible filter or block their end ?
Going through your site's error log, I came across this :
Internal Errors = INET_ATON failed - host not found (mail.priceisking.co.uk
Can you check this with them please and let me know ?

Hi James
Found something new in the error log today which made me wonder.
Date and Time = 2005/12/05 16:28, Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (4: 5.5.2 Syntax error in address joanne.hardaker[@]blueyonder.co,uk
Could you tell me if this is the email address specified in View | Business Settings | Company/contact ? If yes, notice the .co,uk instead of .co.uk which the server is pointing out. Please confirm that the email address in Business Settings is entered as .co.uk and try sending a test email again. Let me know how you get on.

Yes, I saw those enteries too. It's a customers email address that they entered incorrectly. Our address as copied and pasted from Actinic is sales@priceisking.co.uk.
Any other ideas?

Hi James
Have you tried replacing the Act_ContactUs template ? If not, browse to C:\Program Files\ActinicV7\Formats\Themes\Business or BusinessCSS, depending on whether your site theme is CSS or non-CSS based. (you can find this from Design | Themes).
Find the original Act_ContactUs.html, copy this into the Site1 (or equivalent) folder. Update changes to the website and let me know if this makes a difference.
If no joy, also try replacing Mailform.pl in the Site folder with the Mailform.pl in the C:\Program Files\ActinicV7\Original folder.
Let me know how you get on.

Way Behind You
How do you use the contact form?? I'm sure I must be missing something. I've searched high and low and can find info on how to customise the form but not how to implement it in the first place.
At the moment my contact us link uses mailto but I want to use the contact form. I can't find it in any of the menu options (v7 trial version) and I've tried using NETQUOTEVAR:INCLUDE Act_ContactUS.html but to no avail.
Please help before I sulk. ;-}

Hi Jem
The Contact_Us form is an in-built feature in V7. On the live site, you should see the valid link by default on the store pages which leads to an online form.
Are you uploading the site to our trial server by any chance ? If yes, then you will not see the Contact Us link. This will appear only on the live site, reason being Actinic needs a valid SMTP server address and a valid email address entered in View | Business Settings | Company/Contact tab.
Alternately, could you also confirm if you have entries against the Send Mail Icon field in Design | Options | Navigation ?

If I have changed the contact us button will this affect the use of the contact us form on upload? At the moment I have put a mailto: ref in the link field do I need to change this when I upload or will it all work automatically. Sorry I am very new to all this and it's a bit over my head! We are currently finsihing of the design of our site using your trial servers. Thanks DonnaDonna

Thanks Bruce - do I simply remove the mailto ref and see what happens when I upload? How do I then use the same contact form for a cat req (my sister has an actinic site also and uses a mailto so I shall get her to test!) - If I change the form and save the new template as cat request and have a cat request button will this also work or do I need to do something within the act primary template? Thanks for other help - much needed DonnaDonna
