adding some kind of varibles to the product listing page

    Hi,

I was wondering how to go about adding some kind of varibles to the product listing page as I need to add a dropdown for some products which will have two prices in them for one week/two week length of hire, I also need it to get the shopping cart to calcuate what price is in the dropdown when you select for example one week.

I would add this functionality to the shopping cart but different products have different hire prices.

    Hope this makes sence?

    Please help.

    Many thanks

    Hi Anji,

this is very possible using components, variants and "permutation pricing"

On my site I have drop-downs where some products are available with "x" different colours or sizes or whatever variable is relevant (and in my case these are actually different physical products each with stock)

In some cases the variable makes no difference to prices in other the varibale does affect the price.

The actinic guide contains a good section on the use of "variables"

Ive just mastered this today as i needed to do it.

In basic terms, this is what ive done:

Add a component to a product, call it "Hire Length". Select "component as separate order line" and then apply, don't do anything else and apply it.

Then add an "attribute" to the component.

Then add your "choices" to the attribute.

Click back on component and you will see an additional tab "permutations" has appeared. Click on "fill list" and the choices you input will add into the grid. Select each one and price it accordingly (nett of VAT).

Upload and test it. I also, in the description field, listed the various options and prices as you cannot add a price on the screen as its variable.

      Good luck!
