Actinic is not able to run the CGI scripts on the server. It appears as if the scripts are not installed. The most likely cause is that you have an incorrect CGI-BIN URL. If you've never uploaded the site, then you should do it before a download of orders. If you've uploaded the site ever, then Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.

The perl scrips are on the server in the http://www.domainname.com/cgi-bin/ but I keep getting this error....

When you ftp into your site what is the path to the cgi-bin from there?

if the cgi-bin is visible from there then your 'path to cgi-bin' should just be /cgi-bin/

What do you have in SMTP server? Try changing to localhost and testing, if it still throws errors, chek if authentication is required on the SMTP server (if not on that is) and get a username and password and enter it under Email settings..

I have the SMTP set to localhost, and then typed it again, it still throwing up the same error........

I'm having exactly the same issue at the moment.

First Question is, is this a new site ?

If it is, have you asked your hosting company to enable scripts on your server ?

Second have you enabled SSL Scripts on the server, because it won't allow you to upload or download for some reason without that installed ...

3rd. If it is a new site, has your domain name been pointed correctly & your DNS servers set up correctly ?

These are all steps i had to go through when that happened to me...

Yes it a new site that we have setup, we had the DNS and that pointing to the web space over the past couple of days, it all up and running, so looks like I will have to SSL and that enabled on the server...

Thanks to all how help with this problem I put it in the hands of the hosters and all been well by the time I get back of Xmas hols it will be sorted and I can upload to site and it will work.

Hi Darren,

It's sorted now

I have Apache configured to point to a different default cgi-bin alias [cgi-local], as a simple defense against bot's that look to attack cgi-bin directories/scripts.

I popped in to your office this morning Darren and replaced cgi-bin with cgi-local in Efamol's Actinic site and it all works fine now
