    Items: 0 Value: 0

    Hi
    Even if items are added to the cart they only appear in the cart when the "View Cart" link is clicked.

    On the home and product page menu "Items: 0 Value: 0" remains unchanged with no products listed and no value even though items have been added to the cart. Why do they remain unchanged? Values are seen in the menu in the cart area.

    Hope you can help.
    Thanks
    Anne

    Works fine for me Anne. Try clearing your browser cache.

      Hi
      I cleared the temporary internet files and cookies and tried it again.
      I added something to my cart.
      It appeared in the cart and in the left hand menu.

      I then clicked "Continue" which returned me to the product page.
      The product did not appear in the left hand menu of this page.
      I clicked "Home" and it did not appear in the left hand menu of the Home page.

      Any thoughts?

        Have you altered any of the default Actinic templates?

          As I said I can't see any problem browsing around your site and adding items to Cart etc. - it works as expected for me.

          What I did notice however is that if I went to your login page (ssl) then the basket summary contents were wrong.

          Also if I selected 'Gifts' I was redirected to Spreadshirt.net to make the purchase - which is fine, but as a customer I wasn't aware that I couldn't add that to my Actinic basket. There was also no way back to your shop. I would reconsider if you want to keep these Gift items as you are sending the customer down a one way street away from your site.

          Perhaps someone with more experience could comment about the basket differences on your login page.

            Hi,

            It works ok for me, but one thing that could be causing the problem is that your shop address seems to be 'http://www.cpd4lawyers.com/acatalog' and the cgi-bin address is 'http://cpd4lawyers.com/cgi-bin/' (notice no 'www'). It would be better to have these the same as the browser could read the cookie differently for these two options. I would suggest setting the 'Catalog URL' and the 'CGI-BIN' URL to both include the 'www' in the 'Advanced | Network Setup' screen as most people understand that web addresses start with 'www'.

            I hope this helps.

              Hi Tracey and Duncan
              Altering the URL of the site and cgi bin with www in front has done the trick with the cart amounts showing on the home and product page! Thankyou! What a relief!

              Also removed the "Gifts" for now. You are right about directing away from the site. I thought it was a good idea at the time.

              I'm not sure about the different totals with the login page. I'm not sure what I am looking for here. Do I need to create an account to test this?

              Many thanks!

                Hi,

                I'm not sure about the different totals with the login page
                I'm afraid that I don't think there is anything you can do about this. After adding a product to the basket and then clicking on the 'login' button you are taken to an ssl address, because this is different from the address that the cookie was created in it cannot be read here. If you proceed to checkout without logging in the contents of the standard cookie are then written to a cookie at the ssl address, so if you cancel the checkout process and then click the 'login' button the cart summary is updated with the correct amounts. You will probably also find that when a customer completes an order and returns to the shop the cart summary on the product pages will still show that there is something in the basket and won't be cleared until they either click on 'View Cart' or add something else to the basket.

                This is a limitation of using split SSL on a site.

                  Thanks for letting me know Tracey
                  That came as a real surprise.
                  The only way round this would be to have my own certificate.

                  Thanks once again.
                  Kind Regards
                  Anne

                      Items/value not working

                      Hello

                      I am having the exact same problem as country girl except both my addresses are http://speedy.bpweb.net/acatalog/ & http://speedy.bpweb.net/cgi-bin/ and the item /value is not updating at all.

                      Any suggestions?

                        Hi
                        Have you tried altering the Network setup (Advanced>Network Setup) with www in front of both your addresses?

                        Best wishes

                          I couldn't find any products to buy in order to test the basket. If I were you I'd concentrate on getting your navigation working and a few products in store before worrying about the basket contents (I used FF to test and the nav was all over the place)

                            Hi Jo

                            Should I just put a index.html page up into that folder?due to the navigation we are not using a top level page there.

                            There are only test products sitting in product/clothing at the moent as these will be imported in via sage.

                            My menu buttons are not working in firefox (tearing my hair out over this one)and I have posted on the board looking for help as I have no idea why. All my menu items are basically text links with the following styles applied

                            .btn {
                            font-size: 13px;
                            color: #000000;
                            background: url(blue-btn.gif) no-repeat;
                            text-align: center;
                            padding: 2px 0px;
                            height: 24px;
                            width: 155px;

                            }

                            a.btn:link {
                            font-size: 13px;
                            color: #000000;
                            background: url(blue-btn.gif) no-repeat;
                            text-align: center;
                            padding: 2px 0px;
                            height: 24px;
                            width: 155px;
                            }
                            a.btn:hover{
                            font-size: 13px;
                            color: #ffffff;
                            background: url(blue-btn.gif) no-repeat;
                            text-align: center;
                            padding: 2px 0px;
                            height: 24px;

                            }
                            but no matter what I do the only way I can get the bacground to appear is to apply a display:block to this and then the spacing between each buuton is huge. Have spent the last 2 days searching for help on this.

                            Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback.

                              jonty jon is the css expert maybe he will have an idea for you. you could try

                              * {
                              padding:0;
                              } at the top of your css file

                              Just place an empty index.html file in the catalog folder to tidy up
