changing colours at top and side of page

Hi all and Happy New Year!

I have just put together a site. I am using the "Clean Layout 2". I would like to change the colour of all pages at the top and at the side. How do i go about this. Also, i would like to ammend the link text at the top - terms, contact, etc - any ideas would be great.

On another note - thanks to everyone for all the info over the year. You have been instrumental in making my site www.trustmeimathief.com a great site!!! the support and help on this forum really is second to none, i am forever humbled by the level of knowledge on here. Cheers guys.

Any chance of a preview to see how you have controlled the layout?

First thought without seeing the site (and presuming table layout) would be to create a class in the css file with a background-color attribute and apply that class to table/row/cell as appropriate.

The pages that are not showing as you would like them to are controlled by Act_PrimaryCheckout.html, make the changes in here and you should be fine. The one that controlls the store is Act_Primary.html . Both files are available in the Site1 folder.

          Changes

Cheers Bruce - Whats the best way to do the editing on these pages - open them up in Dreamweaver? Will they not default back to original leyouts if you make changes to the pages?

They will only be effected if you alter the colours within Actinic or they will be replaced if you change the selected theme.

                  Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to change the color of the text on the site - the one for product descriptions prices etc, and also the link text for navigation (contact, checkout etc) - i want to make mine white as i have changed the background color. Also how can i change the size of the text?

                  Cheers in advance chaps.

                      Hi Gary,

Thanks for the reply mate - i have tried this but i don't seem to be able to find away of those changes actually taking place once i have selected them. The save button is greyed out.

                        text size

                        Hi,

Hey i managed to figure out how to do this by creating a new style - thanks. Now how do i get to change the size of the text across these sections?

                        Cheers Gary,

If you know what template is producing the relevant page parts, then edit that template and increase any <span actxsmall tags to <span actregular, <span actregular to <span actlarge etc.

To apply in only one place, save the amended file to a new filename and select the new template in the required place(s).

For a site wide change of font sizes, it is better to amend the actinic.css file and increase the font size against all the font definitions. But remember to keep a copy of your amended file outside actinic just in case a future upgrade overwrites all your hard work.

                            templates

                            Hey,

Thanks a lot for the info - one last question on this i hope, how do you know which templates produce which pages? Is there a list anywhere?

Cheers guys for all the help.

Within Actinic, if you select a page in the tree on the left, then check the layout tab, you can see what templates have been used for the main content on that page. To get the details, you need to untick the 'Compact HTML/CGI' option in View | Business Settings and generate your pages - the full path to every template will then show in the page source code.

Don't forget to reset the 'Compact' switch before uploading to the live site again.
