    Contact us form

How do I actually get the act_contactus.html form to link to my concat us button? I have read loads of threads about amending the form etc. but no one actually says how you get it to work in the first place! Once I have got it to work I'd like to be able to amend it and use it for a cat. request form to (which from the threads I've read I think I can do). I am using a brochure page called contact us which has 4 fragments for the different ways that a customer can get in touch. Dumb but not blond I'm affraid. Thanks Donna

I've been asking the same question about how to get the contact form working, Donna. If anyone answers I'll let you know.

      Button's

I think it can be found on
      Design > Options > Navigation
Then you can associate which buttons go with what non brochure pages.

            No joy here!

thanks Gary, unfortunately that didn't work. The error message is that the page doesn't exist - presumably it needs activating or implementing somewhere in Actinic before it can be called.

Sorry I am still none the wiser here - I am assuming I need to assign a url reference to link for the button? at the moment I just have a mailto: reference but I don't understand how to work out what url will call that template within site1? We are still running on the temporary actinic server at the moment as still in final design stages. Thanks Donna

                the page

is act_contactus.html you can find a copy in best seller template files

there is also a .pl file in the cgi bin that my call above shows my guess is the theme i use generated this file,

if you use the contact us page from best seller files,
                the call i show above,
and put this file in your cgi bin it may work, no guarentees.
                attached..

                  The Solution

Thanks to Krithika I have a solution (at least I think I do ... read on).

I am currently using the trial software on the trial server ... which means not having access to SMTP. This means it is impossible for a Web form to generate and send an email (as happens with the contact us form).

In other words, if Actinic does not have SMTP details in Advanced > Network Setup it puts a mailto as the link for the 'contact us' button rather than the Web form.

At least that is the theory. The proof will come when posting the site live and specifying SMTP details ... unless some brave soul not using the test server wants to briefly remove their SMTP details and see what happens to their 'contact us' button and help us resolve this question right here right now! (Don't forget to put your SMTP details back afterwards )

                  Any takers ??

I think part of the problem is that I have changed my contact us button therefore it doesn't actually go anywhere us less I tell it to. How do I work out what the https is for the contact form to link to my button?

I have changed my buttons and think this may be part of the problem - I've found the thread you mentioned here and asked Krithinka about the buttons and how the links work - I put the mailto ref in my link section. All a bit above me at the mo as still new to it all. Thanks for your help though Donna
