    Navigation

    Just getting used to v.7 and having a few problems with navigation.
    Our current site uses V6 and one of the elements I dislike is that the brochure and catalog are seperate 'elements' of the same site. I would like to intergrate the info from our brochure pages so that people do not have to leave the 'catalog' to access this info ie: the site appears uniform throughout. With this in mind;

    1. Apparently, by replacing HEADERGUIDE with FOOTERGUIDE in the BrochurePrimary template will replicate the catalog navigation within the brochure pages. I have done this in Dreamweaver but it's not working? All I end up with on both brochure and catalog pages is the textline FOOTERGUIDE.

    2. The brochure pages I have in place are for extra info like 'Join our mailing list', 'London Shop Details', 'Live Events' etc. Rather than linking to these pages as part of the navigation is there a way of adding these as boxes similar to the section, shopping cart etc boxes that appear on the theme I am using (Smart) with nthe inclusion of small images/hyperlinks etc.

    is exactly what I am trying to acheive
    I think this is the best way to have this info on ALL pages.

    I thought I had a good understanding of Actinic but this has thrown me a bit.

    Many thanks

    Since you are on the Smart theme, go into Design | Options | Site Defaults, here you will see under 'Properties' LEFTBARTITLE, LEFTBARTEXT, you will have to enter the title in the value field for the appropriate title box and similarly edit the value field for the Text variable. You can place HTML in this field and can insert both images and text. This will bring that information into all pages on the site, if you wish to add additional boxes to the ones provided, you will have to create them in the respective templates, Act_BrochurePrimary.html for the Brochure pages, Act_Primary.html for the Catalog pages and Act_PrimaryCheckout.html for the checkout pages.

    I have provided a link to a site I uploaded on the other thread where you had posted on this subject http://community.actinic.com/showthr...1918#post91918

    To do this you wil have to go to Design | Options | Miscellaneous and under 'Home Page Link' select 'None', then click on the Home icon on the Product tree and uncheck 'Use as Website Home Page'.

      Thanks Bruce,

      I got the navigation sorted, works fine. Still having problems with the LEFTBAR/RIGHTBAR though. Having created a small table containing one line of text, a small image and a link in dreamweaver I copied the HTML and pasted into the LEFTBARTEXT value field. I then get an error message saying that there is too much information for this field? Any idea how I can get the full HTML into this field?
      Many Thanks
