    Google Images - Error

We have just received an order on our catalogue, for a product which was deleted from our product catalogue in October 2005. Having checked with the customer how he came across the product, we found out that he searched for the product on google images, where our old details for this product appeared, he was then able to proceed with an order.

Any ideas on how to fix this, or what we need to do.

A full purge and refresh should resolve this. There was another thread recently regarding this - it may help you.

Agreed - I have noticed that Actinic does leave alot of pages on the server when they are deleted from the catalog, this would account for the problem.

you need to ftp to the acatalog folder and manually delete the html page.

A refresh does not remove all of the delete product pages.

The quickest way to do this is to remove all HTML pages from acatalog and then do a site update

Thanks for replys, we removed the files from the server, and then did an immediate update to the server. The image still appears on Google images, but the link to the catalogue is inactive.

It will remain until Google next indexes your site and finds that the image has been removed.

The image is most likely in their cache still - it should disappear once your site is spidered again.

This is another reason for not labelling images by their name but by say product reference numbers - although some will argue it aids in SEO
