I'm using the best seller design and am currently adding new sub catorgories . how can i do this without having the sub catorgories showing up in the browser bar and only in the online shop

I would suggest taking a look at the Primary and BrochurePrimary templates, you also appear to be using some custom javascript that is creating the sidebar to act so wierd.
By default the section's and sub sections do appear on the side bar as well as in the page, you can get around this by following the Advanced Users Guide ( download here ), look on page 30 for the topic "Including Section Lists with Javascript".
