    Hidden Products?

    Hi folks,

Does anyone know how to create a product in Actinic enables us to put through a payment on a product, but that product doesn't appear on the web site as part of the catalog? (i.e. it has a URL but you need to know the URl to get to it).

We've seen that you can "hide" a product, but this doesn't show it on the web site

I have seen a Actinic site hack using a "space" as the section name - so long as something is in the field then Actinic will take it - so the chances of actually seeing and hovering over a single space in either the main navigation or as a section (set a small transparent gif as the section image) is very very slim indeed.

Another option is to handcode all the navigation but that can be a pig if you are regularly making changes.

        Thanks jont,

Can you explain a little more how to achieve the result with the black space? Do you literally create a new product called " ". And it is then only accessible through a 1*1 pixel gif?

        Thanks

Yes - create the new section (or sub section) and give it an obscure name that you know but others unlikely to guess. When it is made on the "general tab" highlight the "name" field and hit the space bar. Best to put at the bottom of the content tree.

If you also assign a 1px x 1px GIF as you suggest as the section image that will hide from the section layout view also

You need to give it an actual (if obscure name) first and then delete so it does not kill the HTML and you can then also find it again on the internet without hovering over a blank space
