PSP - I know its old hat but please help

Hi, - i promise i have already looked thru all old threads but ....

I am very new to trading and only currently have Pay Pal which has improved lately without needing customers to sign up but my advisor says i will lose a lot of business if i do not get a sep PSP - Do you agree ?

WorldPay may be my only hope (due to various reasons) but they are expensive especially as products come in two different categories i apparently have to set up and pay for 2 sep account !! and i am not happy with them holding on to your money for 4 weeks so if there was any other less expensive option (may not be able to go with high street banks due to earlier reason) e.g. SecPay or any others that are not connected with UK high street banks ?

Are any of the cheaper ones harder to integrate or will they need specialist help to install correctly ?

    Forever grateful

There is a complete list of PSPs that can be integrated if you go to Business seeings|payment and Security tab. These are the only PSPs you should consider

If you don't have a merchant acct then Worldpay is your only option.

There are alot of people in this community who use Paypal only (and or NOCHEX) they will all tell you that they do ok only using PP.

Peopel who only use PP normally do so because of the cost of setting up another acct as they all cost money.

My feeling is that PP alone does not cut the mustard, it doesn't give the impression of a well funded business.

Only you can decide if you will recoup the cost of set up with extra profits from sales.

If you are currently doing a couple of sales a day, then it may not be profitable to pay for another PSP.

However if you are doing a dozen or so orders, you ought to have a better PSP.

Personally I can spot a budget website a mile off, I then take a decision whether to buy from it depending on other credibility factors on the site. Having said that I will normally risk a £20 purchase if I want the goods, but no more than that.

Bear in mind that several hundred new ecommerce sites hit the internet everyday, your site has to rank above the rest in order to suceed
