    search engine optimization

    Hi

I am totally exasperated (!) with seo. The product that we sell the most of just won't appear on google at all. I've paid an seo consultant in the past, and between the two of us, we were able to find that most of the search engine phrases that we put in were able to be found by our customers. However, no matter what we do there is one important 'phrase' that doesn't show at all, even though it is in the keywords etc! Any ideas anyone?
    thanks

      Hi Jo

Thanks for your reply. Site is www.hificablesandaccessories.co.uk
I know from using google adwords that my customers type in the generic cable name eg qed or ixos regularly. If I don't use adwords, I only appear on about page 6 if at all. However, if they know what they are specifically looking for eg qed p2110, I appear regularly on the first page of google. The problem is that I'm losing a lot of custom from people who just want to browse using the generic names. The site was optimized about 3-4 months ago; is regulary submitted to google etc, and has the generic words all over the site and in the keywords etc. Don't know what to do next!!

      thanks

        Working on "IXOS"

        1. add in a seperate brochure page all about the IXOS products, what the brand is about, the history, why they are special an then create inline links to the various IXOS products. Create some sticky content. Call the page name ixos.html

        2. get a refund from your SEO company! On the IXOS noise cancelling product the word IXOS appears ONCE! Your page only thinks IXOS is worthy of mention on the one occasion ... what will a search engine make of that? Pack the description text with IXOS in a natural way as possible.

        3. The word "HEADPHONES" appears just the once again on that page. The text goes on to call them "earphones" which is mentioned a few times. As people are likely to search on both headphones and earphones use both in the text.

        3. It may also be worth mis-spelling IXOS a few times ... I wager some will go for IXUS when doing a search and you may as well try and capitalise on peoples inability (mine included) to spell. Similarly "headphones" and "head phones" or even "head-phones".

        4. on the home page make the list of products sold inline links to the actual page - these are crying out to be clicked and will help with the SEO without doubt.

From a navigation aspect I would consider making all the section titles Capitalised and not UPPERCASE ... the Clearance Specials section shows Capitalised sub-sections and these are MUCH more easier on the eye and quicker to scan and find what you are after.
