    Multiple Departments on one website

    Hi,

I have a pharmacy client, I am designing his website. To make the navigation easier, I thought of catagorising his site under different departments for e.g

we would have one main brochure site & from their they could go to departments like beauty, pharmacy, photography, disability living products and then sectionised via products and brands under each department.

I wonder if this is feasable with actinic developer using the multiple sites & diffent CGI script code.

Secondly can we use order manager to download orders from the above or will I need multiple order managers. Btw have a look at allcures.com - something similar.

    Any advise would be appreciated

    thanks.

Is there any reason you can't just create a section for each department, and then have sections within the departments that split into products and brands? Unless there's a particular reason you want to use different sites and CGI numbers for each department?

Being a pharmacy, you can imagine, the amount of sub-sections, I am just trying to keep the navigation clean.

Have a look at www.gardenpharmacy.co.uk - its a great site but the navigation seems a bit too much & have a look at www.allcures.com - the navigation seems to be smart, clean & clear.

by separating the site into mini sites are per your plan your customers will not be able to buy from more that one department. It is preferable to allow people to see all your products and subsequently check out via one checkout.

You will probably lose sales by having multiple shops.

Have you considered Normans collapso menu system?

you can see it live on a site called chandleryworld

          Hi Jo,

funny I was just looking at it. Checked out Norman's website but I can only see the cascading type menu. I will try & Contact him directly.

thanks, it makes sense what you said.
