oops - imported instead of exported

    oops

i've imported my shop snapshot instead of exported. and its overwritten a load of info i've just put in, so now its missing.

ive got a backup of everything in a .zip file but i cant see how to put it all in to replace the missing info. copying it all back in doesnt replace the missing products. any help?

When you say you have a backup of everything - do you mean you have a backup of the whole site1 directory? - if so then you can restore to the last database. What did you backup in your zip file?

if you import a snapshot it will backup the site as a zip file before importing over the top.

in the zip file its backed up from the Program Files folder to actinic - ive got a ActRegistryBackup.reg file in SiteBackups folder
the Sites - "my shop name" - all the files are in there inc images/preview html etc.

Sounds like you may have to run the reg file as well to restore some Actinic settings - sorry I've never had the need to do this, if no one else can help then I'd recommend you contact support first.

Installing a reg file is easy - just double click it - but the issue is what effect it may have on your installation. Maybe I'm just overcautious - that's why I'm hoping someone else will have had to do this before and can respond to you.

well i just went for it anyway

copied it into the shop folder and double clicked, didnt make any changes.

does it have to be in a certain folder?

You wouldn't see any changes as such - it doesn't matter where it is. Running it will have overwritten some registry settings for Actinic. You would probably have to close and reopen Actinic for the settings to be read. I presume you already copied all the other files from the zip to their rightful places. That should be all that would be needed as far as I know.

No, the reg just refreshed any Actinic related registry entries it contained (I do hope it did not duplicate them).

Have you been trading in the last few days since this happened?

no the shop isnt live at the minute, still testing and adding products. but the import i did by mistake overwrote the changes i made (more products) so i lost about 150 products.

is there a way to get them back or do i just have to add them again

First thing to do is safeguard what you have now, so make a snapshot (EXPORT) and also do a copy of your shop folder and everything in it to a safe place (CD perhaps).

Then open the backup zip file with Winzip or similar and extract into your shop folder overwriting all existing files - see what you have.

If it is even more messed up, reimport the snapshot you just made, and try again, this time extracting but not allowing the extract to overwrite any existing files, see what you have now.

Still messed up, re-import the snapshot and try choosing which individual files to extract, checking after each operation.

Still messed up - reimport snapshot and do it all again manually (add products, sections, images et al.
