    Problems with new site

    Hi

I have uploaded a 30 day trial actinic catalogue to it. When i click the link below i get a general script error.

Ive rang my hosting company thinking it was a permissions problem , but its on a windows server , they say its my actinic settings can someone shed some light on this problem. i use the wizard setup and it wont recognise Path to the cgi-bin file

    sorry newbie question

If you can say what host you are using, then someone else using them might be able to guide you through the settings they used

if you are using a 30 day trial it might be beneficial to use actinics trial server.

I mention this as unless your host is experienced with actinic, it can be a pig to set up on a windows server.

Your 30 days would be better spent in actinic space as you will be up and running immediately

Hi thanks for your answers, i use a reseller account with webtapestry i am already running a website using actinic and accepting orders, through the first link is below.

What i can't understand is the 2 sites are on the same windows server hosted by weptapestry.

I have adjusted the usual username , password etc. but sill no joy

why don't you post the network settings you have for both sites, then we can compare - excluding passwords etc

don't forget to tell us which set works and which do not

Ok the Network settings are as follows first cart working perfect second not

            Cat URL

            http://www.palo.co.uk/acatalog/
            http://www.batteryland.co.uk/acatalog/

            CGI-BIN URL

            http://www.palo.co.uk/cgi-bin/
            http://www.batteryland.co.uk/cgi-bin/

            codebase

            ./
            ./

            Path from CGI

            ../acatalog/
            ../acatalog/

Path To CGI-BIN (this seems to be the problem as the wizard wont go passed this).

            /public_html/cgi-bin/
            /public_html/cgi-bin/

Tick boxes checked are : FTP Details : Use passive FTP tranfers
Common Settings : Ignore passive transfer errors

Path to perl shell on both /usr/bin/perl

            Hope this is enough information

              Hi there

Can you please check if you are using unique CGI script ID number (Advanced | Network setup) for both the sites if using a common cgi-bin folder.

The best way to host multiple sites would be to have a different directory for each site Site 1 and Site 2 and a seperate acatalog and cgi-bin folder under each directory.

              Example:
Can have a separate directories for the two sites like Palo and Batteryland under Public_html

              catalog url would be:
              http://www.palo.co.uk/acatalog/
              http://www.batteryland.co.uk/acatalog/

              cgi-bin url:
              http://www.palo.co.uk/cgi-bin/
              http://www.batteryland.co.uk/cgi-bin/

Path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory:
              ../Palo/acatalog/
              ../Batteryland/acatalog/

              Path to cgi-bin
              /Public_html/Palo/cgi-bin/
              /Public_html/Batteryland/cgi-bin/

              I hope this helps.
