defining search result to certain product groups

is it possible to only display a certain product group in the search results.

To explain what I means I run a online sweet shop

    http://www.sweets2yourdoor.co.uk

For each product I have created a subcategory.

then I create 2 of more products in each category

the first is the one containg the master product info (product group - products)

the 2nd and so on contain the various options that you can buy in the product in i.e. 250g, 3 kg, jar etc.

when someone does a search for say "sherbet fountain"

the result show 3 items, the first the master product and the other 2 are way's that it can be purchased

    i.e.

    http://www.sweets2yourdoor.co.uk/cgi...=-1&TB=A&SHOP=

What I need is to be able to only display the results on the product group called "products"

    is this possible ?

    regards

    Hi David

If I understand correctly, is the main Sherbet Fountain the original product and the 5-pack and 48-pack its duplicates ? If yes, then you can restrict the search results in View | Search Settings.
In the Search Options tab, untick Index Product Duplicates. This will stop Actinic from displaying duplicates in the search results.

    Hope this helps.

      no

the way that I have done it is to create 3 seperate products

      1st product the item info

I did not use product duplicated as it would not display the information correctly

I used the first product as the master product with all the ingrediants etc.

the rest of the products are option which the item can be purchased in.

for example i might have 2 purchase options 1 for say 5 off, the other for 60 off

I need to keep each purchase option as a seperate product as they have diferent images and prices.

What i really need to know is:

Can you restrict the search results to only 1 product group ?

        Hi David

I am afraid it is not possible to restrict search results to selected product groups. I can go ahead and add this to the wish list for you.
