    Cookie error message

Hi, when we go to add a cart, we get the error "This shopping application requires permission to use cookies on your machine, but this has been denied."

Everything is okay on the IE side - we are running Actinic 7 on a Redhat Fedora Core 4 machine. The path of actinic is -: /var/www/NAMEOFSITE/public_html/acatalog
The CGI-BIN folder is on directory under the public_html. Any help on this would be most gratefull.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

That is a browser specific desktop error message. When you say everything is OK in IE - which version, and what is your setting on the Privacy tab?

      Browser

Hi, IE 6 windows XP pro SP2. Privacy setting is set to low and says allow all cookies. Have also tried it on Windows 2000 with IE 6 - same problem.

      Thanks for your help,

      Mark.

Actinic should work on medium, since only first party cookies are involved. Do you have a url I can try?

          test site

          Hi,
I have created a test site and have uploaded the actinic catalog for you to have a look at - http://exclusivetest.no-ip.org/acatalog

If you try to add an item to cart I get the cookie message.

          Thanks for your help,

          Mark.

Interesting - fails in IE and Opera with the cookie error, Firefox add to cart works.

I see the script number is set to 0. I have not seen that used before. Could you humour me, and try setting that to something between 1 and 999 and upload again?

Do you have a P3P policy set up? If not, try going to View | Business Settings - terms and Conditions and Select Basic under P3P.

I found an SSLBOUNCE url in the code. Can you check your settings on View | Business Settings - Payment and Security tab. Untick the 'SSL on' box if you do not actually have an SSL certificate installed for the domain name you are using.

                      SSL unticked

                      Hi Bill,

I have unticked the SSL box and re-uploaded - still no joy. Why do you think firefox works but IE does not? Sorry for not being much help. Any more thoughts?

                      Thanks very much.

Can you make an FTP connection to the site and check the permission on the cgi-bin folder (Should be 755 or rwxr-xr-x) and each of the files inside cgi-bin (same setting).

By entering the base address for the basket http://exclusivetest.no-ip.org/cgi-bin/ca000010.pl I received a script error, which makes more sense than the cookie error report, as I have read the cookie and it's the same format and content as any other Actinic site.
