"An error occurred sending the merge request"

My system crashed so I've had to use a back-up snapshot. Now though when I try an upload I get the above error message and there is an "error 500 - internal server error" message on the site.

Cured by changing the CGI script ID from 1 - 4 & then back to 1 again

Changing the ID number forces a change in the scripts on the server which has probably reset a legacy/corrupt file on the server causing you problems. No need to change back to 1 again unless you have hardcoded navigational links via the cgi-bin which require a specific ID number in the URL

I did have a further problem, can't remember exactly what it was but along the lines of 'multiple options' when I tried to view the page. I was happy because at least I had actually uploaded, even if it was corrupt. Changing the setting back to 1 (or probably any other number) restored everything back to normal & cured my headache in an instant.
