    Email problem

    Can anyone tell me what this means:

    Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (4: Authentication turned on in your email client.
    )

    How and where do I turn off the 'Authentication'?

    I am a complete novice so any simple explanation would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    It looks like your host requires that you use Authenticated SMTP for the mail server you are using (assinged in Advanced | Network Setup | SMTP Server) within the software.

    Basically, you should have a username and password to be able to send emails out through the mail server you have assigned.

    If you are on a linux machine, then assigning this settings to just

    localhost

    works in a lot of cases, which does not require an authenticated connection as you are on the server by virtue of your files being uploaded to it, but it is down to the one hosting you, so you might need to liaise with them on it.

      Thanks

      Many thanks for the rapid response. I have tried using 'localhost' to no avail. I am now awaiting a reply from my hosting company to whom I have sent your response to my query. Hopefully all will be working soon (fingers crossed).
