    Mail in Actinic

    Hello,
When I try to send mail through Actinic to tell a customer that their order has shipped, I get this error message:

Failed to communicate with the SMTP server.

    Possible Cause:
    1. Network transmission problems.
    2. Could have Changed the SMTP Server settings, but not Uploaded after that.

    Recommendation:
    1. Retry
    2. Upload the Site First, if you have changed the SMTP Server Settings.

    Resolution:
If retry fails, check your SMTP settings
    or contact your ISP.

    The error was:
58331allison@fawcett-maltsters.co.ukError returned from SMTP server (4: sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

    Command: send Filename:

This happens with every customer. I don't have any problems sending mail through OE and I have tried uploading and trying again. Does anyone have any theories on why this is happening? It is affecting all my sites!

Advanced | Network Setup | Email Settings | SMTP Server .. set to localhost

This cures a whole host of email related issues and is the first course of action to try when you are unable to send emails via your ISP's smtp server. Worth a try for starters......

I had the same problem with a site.

I found if the user had her outlook running and at the same time, did a send/recieve in there.. And then went back to Actinic and sent the email, it worked fine.

You do have to do it each time, though, so not ideal.

              Hope this helps
