    Meta tags

    hi,
    this might seem to some as a silly question....., but.

    in the section details i've filled in all the meta tags and keywords but the search engines don't pick them up. Instead THEY PICK UP THE KEYWORDS FROM THE ACT-PRIMARY.

    do i need to tick the box marked meta keywords in design, options, sections?

    or have i done something wrong?

    thanks

    The are no keywords as such in the Act_Primary as Actinic compiles what you have set at the section level. The keywords are not coded directly into the template

    Check under Design | Options | Sections that you have not got "Use Keywords from all Parent Sections"

        "USE KEYWORDS FROM ALL PARENT SECTION" is not ticked.

        is it better to leave it unchecked??

          I personally add keywords and descriptions specific to each section - although there is evidence search engines are not adding much weight in this day and age it helps with the SERP's especially with the description - so may as well make the most of them wherever possible but obviously adds to site maintenance overhead

            I would leave unticke - as per above post.

            In the Act_Primary check to see if you have

            <META NAME="ACTINICTITLE" CONTENT="NETQUOTEVAR:PAGEHEADER">

            in the <head> section.

            Have you done a view source on a live page to check the keywords are actually on the page?

                This will depend on your template and what you want to do with it. If you have no backup of the original you can get a copy for your theme from one of the subdirectories in:
                C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Formats\Themes

                  Best to copy the file to a temp location before peeking inside to preserve the original (just in case) and not import into the site1 folder as youwill lose any mods you have made to the existing Act_Primary
