    Streamline or Paypal?

In my shop I have a Streamline terminal, the shop bank account is with Natwest.

Although my internet site is not yet online, I opened a business account with Lloydstsb solely for the internet business in order to keep the 2 businesses separate entities.

As I already have a Streamline account I expected it to be a straightforward issue to open the online account - not so.

Streamline refuse to allow me to have two seperate bankers, the only way they will allow me an online facility is to close the Natwest account (shop account) and bank both businesses with Lloydstsb.

I spoke to my business manager (Lloydstsb) and she advised that I use Paypal if I didnt want to change banks on the shop account.

I have signed up with a Paypal business account (verified) but information from Paypal how to set up the facility is vague to say the least.

At present I have added Protx to Actinic (in anticipation of Streamline), so (finally!) how do I set up Paypal?

Also, do payments made by Paypal go directly into my account or is there a delay?

Sorry if I'm asking basic stuff!

Go to View | Business Settings - Payments and Security tab. If necessary click the + sign in the top left corner of the payment providers table to add a new row.

Using the dropdown, select Paypal in the first column. Click the configure button and put in the email address you have registered with Paypal. I cannot remember having to do anything else in Actinic. Test.

Paypal hold all the money in your Paypal account until you log on and instruct them to make a transfer to your bank - there is a charge for this if the amount transferred is under 50 quid.

I would do a forum search on only using Paypal to process cards, you may change your mind

We are high street retail and "play" at actinic - use single bank account and single Streamline terminal - all I have done is assign a key on the cash register to internet sales.

I detest bank charges and too mean to pay twice - I have pay pal account but it is so expensive for the seller, and the majority of customers have more than just a pay pal account.

          PayPal experience

          Hi,

Thought you might find it useful to know that although Paypal is easy to control from money in- money out point of view it is not generally regarded by the buying public to be the greatest way to pay.

Would recommend using paypal by all means but having it as a choice of payments as some people would definitely prefer to use anyway.

I am currently looking for another PSP but having trouble.

If your internet site is selling the same products as your shop, wouldn't it be easier to take the payments on your web site (secure to download later) and then just process them through your shop terminal, i think the cost would be less hassle to set up but don't know about your bank's rules on usage.

          Hope that helps
