      Do you know if you can even run a simple Perl script. Lets remove Actinic from the loop and try a simple test.

      Make a file "helloworld.cgi" from the following.
      Code:
      #!/usr/bin/perl
      print "Content-type: text/html\n\n";
      print "<H1>Hello World</H1>\n";
      Now manually FTP it to your sites cgi-bin (is it really just called cgi?).

      You may also have to do a chmod on it e.g. chmod a+x helloworld.cgi

      Then try http://www.portugalfoto.com/cgi/helloworld.cgi and see if anything come back.

        Updates - more news

        Hi Bruce,
        Thanks for the tips. I have just started a hosting with "4Sure" (http://www.4surehosting.co.uk) so let's look how it goes.

        For now I will use my other domain .net for the test.
        If this goes well I will just point the .com -> .net

        Norman,
        You have the feeling right (And as I expected) the test didn't worked out.
        Will get back to my hosting later about this subject for sure!
        If they can't help I just move to other... I don't like to get stoped by some technical/human prob. called "cgi" ehehe eh

        Well first thing s first.. I just hope the portugalfoto.net propagates fast on the DNS.

        Tks to all.

            Luis,

            I would suggest going over this thread on the community http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=17459 as mentioned earlier. You can also look through the list of hosting companies on the Actinic Website http://www.actinic.co.uk and look under 'Services'.

            Kind regards,

              Have you contacted 4sure? they did have some problems a yaer or so ago but their support has generally been top notch and there shouldn't be any problems with actinic on their servers.

                  The post you are referring to is over a year old and nothing to do with your issues as explained to you in a recent email, but for clarification, when a domain is moved around or DNS applied to a domain, it does not happen on all name servers across the globe instantly, and as such (and in your case) you saw the holding page on our servers very quickly in one instance, because the DNS servers you were using had the new information about where that domain now resided, but in subsequent visits your route was taken via DNS servers through your ISP which had not updated, thus it was showing as dead - this is just DNS propagation and the way things go, which is why generally you should allow approx 48 hours before relying on any domain if it has been newly moved etc.

                  Happy Easter one and all.
