    Urgent Help Needed

    HI,

I was making some changes to the site html in dreamweaver and when i finished i could not go back into developer as the following error message came up:

    Access to C:Prog.../PreviewHTML/actinic.css was denied

I checked the preview html file and actinic.css is still there (read only) so not sure why it is objecting.

I went back and undid the changes in dreamweaver but it made no difference

Tried KB but could not find

    Can anyone help please ???

You should be working on the actinic.css in the site 1 folder not preview html.

      Two sites

Thank you Malcolm, but i believe the set up is not as straight forward as others users.

We have two sites and can switch between them, the second site is ok and when i looked for the actinic.css file it is also in the previewHTML within Site1

The first site has the problem and don't know why it is denying access as i was only changing the dreamweaver templates which reside in the SiteHTML folder.

Just to re-cap then both sites have actinic.css in the previewHTML folders, both working ok up to now, second one still ok but first one says access denied.

What are the reasons why access could be denied ?

        Hi,

as Malcolm points out you should NOT be editing any files in the previewhtml or sitehml folders - as soon as you preview the site these will be over written by Actinic and all changes will be lost.

You need to edit templates (actinic.css included) that are in the root ofthe site folder - regardless of how many sites you have on the go.

Do a search on the forum as this issue has been raised several times but is probably due to you working on the preview file and not the master copy with which Actinic compiles from

          Tearing hair out now

HI, thank you for the note, i have had a look back through and a search on actinic.css brings up only one other story, tried sitehtml and read through but can't see similar problem.

When i look at the dreamweaver set up the following subfolders are in site 1
Common, Common OCC, Preview HTML, Ship control, Site HTML

When i look at the folders from "my Computer" it looks as though recent images that i have added through Developer Tree structure have been put in the preview html but when i look at the folder properties there have been no updates.

I made a change to act_primary (in dreamweaver) and that was when the problem seem to occur with actinic.css being denied access when opening developer

          Any new ideas ?

No, just a repeat of the same facts again. You are looking in the wrong place. You are editing the wrong files. You are not using dreamweaver correctly with the Actinic files.

Did you read the help about using Dreamweaver with Actinic? Did you download the extension?

              C++ error now

              Hi,

Followed dreamweaver integration then received following error at point of carrying out full preview:

Debug error: microsoft visual C++ ActinicV7\catalog.exe

              then application closes

(any help gratefully received near to tears or nervous breakdown, not sure which !)

              Many thanks

                Hi,

I would suggest you raise a support ticket @ http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm. Support may aske to see a snapshot of the site or a copy of the DB to see what is causing the issue.

                Kind regards,
