My employer has upgraded from v5.4 to v6.1.2 and I can't see why it was worth the £250 he paid. So what was the point?

Have you used any of the new features on in V6, if you haven't then you will probably see little difference in the site if you haven't done anything other than upgrade.

It's worth it just for Froggle feed

I have looked att he list of new features and dont see anything worth the money, i'm inthe UK so the froogle thing doesnt work for me.

Also just arrived in Catalog 6.1.2 "Discount's for order over £xxx". A great way of increasing sales.

Presumably you have cover so you will also get a year in which you can have the pleasure of discussing your many problems with the Actinic support staff and you might even get a free upgrade to the next version.

Then next year you will have be able to do it all over again for the same bargain price. I wonder if your boss is on this forum. ;-)

Developer is one step up from Business, it enables you to have as many sites as you like for a single license, you get dreamweaver interfaces and you can create custom themes - I expect that there are more things as well but I can't think of them right now.

I don't think that you will be able to get discounts by referrer id working without changing scripts.

There is an option in v6 to have the login button on the menu bar instead of as the first page. My site is set up like that if you want to see what it look like (www.mole-end.biz).

Even if you do not use the new v6 features there are lot of improvements in the background. E.g. the performance of the site generation is improved what is really matter if you have a large site. The online session management has been rewritten from scratch and now it isn't suffering from the BASE HREF problems. There are several similar changes which can not be really seen but have a great effect by making your shop more stable and powerfull.

Many thanks Jan and Zoltan. The info is a great help. Think I will go for the developer I'm sure I can figure out a way to implement discounts. The whole package sounds miuch improved but the menu login button is a real benefit. Probably be back again. Your site looks interesting Jan, will take a closer look soon.
